Energized Purple Pot

I loved a container that sat in the shade on my eastern-facing porch. Inside its walls, I planted perennials — a bronzed leaf Rodgersia ‘Bronze Peacock’ and a subtly variegated Thalictron ‘Evening Star.’ Cascading plants featured a golden Japanese forest grass — Hakonechloa ‘All Gold’ and a lovely Begonia ‘Sherbet Bon Bon.’

Grass, perennials and a bulb

I was pleasantly surprised that the meadow rue bloomed with lavender flowers all summer and thrived in the morning sun/afternoon shade. The beauty of a pot full of perennials is that when I want to redo the container, I can plant the hardy ones permanently in the garden while the tender Begonia winters over in the greenhouse.
