Havencraft

I’m pausing my travel logs from Wales to share a delightful discovery: a gift shop, nursery, art and artisan gallery, and boutique all rolled into one in Kingston, Washington, where I live. On the Fourth of July, a cute trailer brimming with plants from Havencraft rolled by in the Kingston Parade. I wondered who they were and where they came from.

After the parade, my friend Fran and I wandered down to the park by the ferry docks, and there it was. I’d driven past this spot countless times, always admiring the wildflower gardens, yet never stopped to explore what lay beyond.

Stepping inside to see what the place was about, I couldn’t believe I’d missed this gem for so long. Everywhere I looked, there was something I loved: Plants, art, artisan’s work, garden art, one-of-a-kind gifts, and houseplants, all arranged with such creative flair. Fran and I meandered through the displays while I snapped photos, already planning my return after my Buffalo trip.

I spotted a few plants calling my name, and maybe, if my budget allows, a piece of art to bring home. And yes, I’ll be sharing stories from Buffalo soon, too.

If there’s one thing this day taught me, it’s to notice the wonders in my own backyard. Time to rediscover Kingston, one street at a time. More stories to come…

Hats, earrings and what-have-yous

Havencraft is located three blocks up from the ferry, on the corner of Hwy 104 and West Kingston Road. If you are coming across on the ferry, by car, two blocks up from the first light, take a right on Iowa. Cross over Hwy 104, and it is on the corner lot. You’ll see a window blinds company in the little building on the very corner, and Havencraft right behind it. If you are walking off the ferry, when you disembark, go straight up the street, and walk for three blocks.
