Fall for Containers

The leaves are falling; time to pot up some color into your favorite containers and keep a bit of fall color going in confined spaces!

The secret to a great-looking pot for the colder seasons is relying on color and texture to carry you through. Change out flowers when they fade and add a bit more excitement for the rest of the season.

Remember to pack your plants in tight. They won’t be growing until next year. Any holes will remain void of plants for the season if you don’t squish them together at planting time.

Fall Container

Here’s the recipe:

  • 1 Schizachyrum ‘Prairie Blues’ (The grass turns tan in the winter. Cut it back in spring for new growth.)
  • 4 Pennisetum ‘Fireworks’
  • 1 Kale ‘White Peacock
  • 1 Kale ‘Tuscan Black’
  • 1 Rudbeckia ‘Cherry Brandy’ (A marginal perennial that will die down after frost. Change it out for another plant.)
  • 2 Euphorbia ‘Glacier Blue’ (evergreen perennial)
