Art in Bloom

A video look back at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show in 2014, where I imagined I was in an art museum.

Nature’s Studio

Metal Urn and Driftwood

It was hard to pick out a favorite feature in this outdoor garden studio with a design that relied on colors, texture, sound, and fragrance. The gigantic nurse-log, colossal metal containers, and a log root cellar caught the eye. The water features contributed to a peaceful sound, and edibles growing alongside ornamental shrubs help feed the body and soul. Everything is artistically placed with a mixture of metal artwork and nature in this attractive and surprising forest-like landscape.

This team always creates fantastic display gardens, and this design is one of my favorites. The elements are what I strive for in my garden space. It’s hard not to be creative in an area such as this. It’s no wonder they won the Founder’s Cup award, Golden Palette Award, X Factor Award, Pacific Horticultural Society Award, 425 Magazine Editor’s Choice Award, and a Gold Medal.
